Upper Trapezius Release

Many clients who come in describing neck and shoulder pain are referring to the upper trapezius muscle.  This part of the trapezius originates from the back of the skull, down the neck to the shoulder blade, and wraps around to the lateral front of the collar bone.  Two of its functions are to raise the shoulder blade and tilt the neck and head to the side.  The exercise above can help loosen this often tight muscle.  Do it as needed, several times a day, for quick relief.
